Uniontown man jailed for assault on pregnant woman
Uniontown police arrested a man Sunday after he allegedly assaulted a pregnant woman.
Davonte Lee Deans, 30, of Uniontown, faces felony charges of aggravated assault of an unborn child and aggravated assault.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called to Deans’ home in the 100 block of Askren Street shortly after 3:30 p.m.
Police said that Deans and a 16-year-old girl struck the alleged victim in the head and in the stomach multiple times. Police did not identify the juvenile suspect.
The alleged victim told police that she heard Deans say something about a firearm during the assault, but investigators did not find a gun in the home.
According to the complaint, the alleged victim was transported to Uniontown Hospital.
Deans was arraigned Sunday night before District Judge Daniel Shimshock, who sent him to the Fayette County jail without bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Jan. 23.
