Brownsville man charged in Uniontown shooting

A Brownsville man faces an attempted homicide charge following a shooting in Uniontown Monday morning.
Joshua Kiss, 29, is also charged by Uniontown police with felonies of aggravated assault and prohibited possession of a weapon.
Police were called to the area near Byers Market in the 100 block of Connellsville Street shortly before 10:30 a.m. According to the criminal complaint, Kiss fired a gun at Douglas Lewis and struck him in the right calf. Lewis told police he fired back. Kiss was also struck by a bullet in the lower leg.
According to the complaint, surveillance footage corroborates Lewis’ version of events that he shot back in self defense. Uniontown police said that Lewis will not be charged.
Both Lewis and Kiss went to WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital for treatment.
There is an active warrant for Kiss’ arrest.
