Since he was hit in the head with a beer can at the Jason Aldean concert and diagnosed with multiple concussions earlier this month, Michael Mollenkopf has experienced worsening symptoms.

Mollenkopf said in an interview Friday that Aldean was playing his second song at the Aug. 9 show at The Pavilion at Star Lake when the can struck him from behind.

“The next thing I know, something hard hit my head, and I blacked out for a couple seconds,” Mollenkopf said.

He added that when he came to, he was surrounded by a triage team and security guards. He was eventually transported by ambulance to Weirton (W.Va.) Medical Center.

Mollenkopf, of Colombiana, Ohio, said he had started to feel better over the next couple days, but he woke up the following Thursday with a stutter and bad headaches. He spent another two days in the emergency room, and meets with a neurologist next week.

Isabella Dickey, Mollenkopf’s daughter, was standing right next to him when he was hit. She described hearing a loud “pop” and getting sprayed with beer.

“It was definitely a very scary experience. My mom passed away in 2017. He is my only biological parent. It was very scary for me seeing him practically unconscious,” Dickey said.

Mollenkopf said he filed a police report with Hanover Township police this week. Hanover police did not return a phone call seeking additional information. Washington County District Attorney Jason Walsh confirmed the department is investigating the incident.

Mollenkopf and Dickey are hopeful that someone witnessed who threw the beer can, or happened to be recording when the incident occurred.

“I’m hoping somebody got something. Nobody deserves what I’m going through. It was very uncalled for,” Mollenkopf said.

“I hope whoever did it realizes they actually hurt somebody,” Dickey said.

This is not the only violent incident Hanover police are currently investigating stemming from the Jason Aldean concert.

Just days after Aldean performed, a video made the rounds on the internet showing a man attacking a woman in the concert venue’s parking lot.

In the video, the unidentified man was on top of a woman while three other women pulled him off of her.

The man is seen punching one of the other women multiple times in the head, knocking her to the ground.

No charges have been filed in either case. Anyone with information is urged to contact Hanover police at 724-947-4813.
