A Uniontown woman has died more than a week after she was hit by a car, according to a state police report released Tuesday night.

Jane Nara, 78, was walking east on Morgantown Street in Uniontown around 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 when she was hit by a northbound Toyota Camry, the report said. The impact sent Nara airborne; she landed in front of a telephone pole near the intersection of Morgantown and Elm streets, police said.

The driver, Ida Long, 71, of Uniontown, then turned her car around to block oncoming traffic, the report said.

Long was uninjured in the crash.

Fayette EMS, state police and fire department members responded to the scene. Nara was transported to WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital and subsequently flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va, for treatment, according to the report. Nara died Monday at Ruby.

The report indicated Long was not charged in the crash.
