An Edenborn man is accused of leaving five children, all under the age of 11, unsupervised for approximately five hours, according to a criminal complaint filed Friday.

State police allege that Curtis James Frezzell, 42, left the children, ages 11, 8, 4, 3, and 1, without any means of communication from around noon until police arrived at approximately 4:54 p.m.

Police reported that when they arrived at the Main Street, Germantown, residence, an 11-year-old answered the door and officers noted a strong odor of feces emanating from inside the house.

According to the criminal complaint, an 8-year-old was wearing a blue onesie with “excrement smeared” on the belly and chest while the 3-year-old was wearing a diaper that, according to the report, was sagging and clearly needed to be changed.

Police also noted that Children and Youth Services, who first notified police, observed the children running in the street while waiting for officers. They reported that the 4-year-old was spraying the 3-year-old with charcoal lighter fluid until stopped by a caseworker.

Police said they contacted the children’s mother, Annissia Mosely, and her fiance, Frezzell, who told officers they were on their way home. Mosely told police that Frezzell was supposed to be watching the children while she was at work and that he had left only briefly to cash a check.

When Frezzell arrived around 6:34 p.m., he reportedly told police he had left the children in the care of Mosely’s 16-year-old son. However, police stated the 16-year-old was mandated to attend a YMCA program as a condition of his probation.

Frezzell was charged with five counts of child endangerment and is being held at Fayette County jail on $100,000 bond.
