State police arrested a Dunlevy man Wednesday after he was accused of firing a gun during an argument with his girlfriend.

Dalton James Shepard, 25, faces felony charges of aggravated assault, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, as well as misdemeanors of simple assault, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, carrying a firearm without a license and terroristic threats.

According to the criminal complaint, at about 8:48 a.m. Wednesday police were called to the 50 block of St. Cloud Road in Somerset Township. Brittany David reported that Shepard fired a handgun in her home at least twice earlier that morning.

Charging documents state that Shepard fired the first shot in the living room, and then walked into the bedroom and fired another shot near David’s feet. A neighbor told police he heard two gunshots come from the residence.

According to the complaint, David agreed to drive Shepard home. David got out of the car when Shepard accused her of stealing his identification, and he climbed into the driver’s seat and drove away, court paperwork states.

Shepard was arraigned Wednesday afternoon before District Judge Joshua Kanalis, who sent him to the Washington County jail on $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. July 28.
