A Connellsville man is accused of injuring another driver in a drunk-driving crash in Bullskin Township where he allegedly rammed the car while going more than 120 mph.

Jacob Millwood, 27, was arraigned Thursday in connection with the three-vehicle crash on the night of March 26. He is charged with aggravated assault with a vehicle while driving under the influence, aggravated assault with a vehicle and DUI.

The driver of a white Toyota 4-Runner, Christopher Williams, told police he had been traveling in the southbound left lane of Route 119 when he saw Millwood’s Kia Optima approaching him at a high rate of speed. Before Williams could switch lanes, his car was hit from behind, causing it to roll over and land on its roof in the northbound lane, charging documents said.

That put the 4-Runner in the path of a third vehicle, a Chevy Silverado, which was towing a trailer. The Silverado was struck on the side of its bed and partially jack-knifed from the impact, police said.

Northbound and southbound lanes of Route 119 were closed for about three hours after the crash.

A driver who Millwood passed shortly before the crash at the intersection of Route 119 and Kingview Road told police it was “110% (Millwood’s) fault,” according to the affidavit of probable cause.

Millwood had been traveling at 124 mph just before the crash, more than twice the road’s 55 mph limit, police said. At the time of impact, he was going 121.8 mph, charging documents alleged.

Medical records cited in the court paperwork indicated Millwood’s blood-alcohol level was at 0.135%.

Millwood and Williams were both hospitalized at Forbes Hospital.

Williams underwent spinal surgery and continues to see doctors for treatment of nerve damage, according to court documents. Three neck vertebrae were fused as a result of the crash.

As of May 8, Williams told police, he was still suffering tingling and loss of feeling in his hands. He is scheduled to remain off work on medical leave until June 30, court documents said.

Millwood underwent multiple surgeries, according to court documents. When police reached Millwood for follow-up in May after numerous unsuccessful attempts, court paperwork said, he told them he had broken his femur and suffered significant damage to his left arm.

He told police he remembered nothing from the incident.

Millwood was arraigned Thursday before Fayette County Magisterial Judge Ronald Haggerty and released on $50,000 bail.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 11.
