A Donora man was sentenced last month to more than 12 years in prison on federal drug and gun charges following his conviction earlier this year.

Tre Robert Goins, 31, was ordered to serve 146 months in prison followed by four years on supervised release during his Oct. 21 sentencing before Senior U.S. District Judge Joy Flowers Conti at the federal courthouse in Pittsburgh.

A federal jury convicted Goins in August of possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. Before the trial, he pleaded guilty to related charges of distribution of fentanyl and cocaine and possession of a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon.

Goins fled from a traffic stop in Duquesne on May 24, 2024, and led police on a high-speed chase before crashing his vehicle. Police recovered about $10,000 worth of fentanyl and cocaine, along with a stolen firearm in his car.

Goins had previously been convicted of multiple felonies, including a federal firearms offense, and he was prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition.
