Fayette inmate death investigated

The death of an inmate at SCI – Fayette is under investigation.

Fredderick Hall Jr., 42, died on Saturday, four days after he was found unresponsive in his cell, according to a release from the state Department of Corrections.

Upon the discovery, prison staff responded and provided life-saving measures until the prison’s medical personnel arrived, the release said.

Brownsville EMS responded, continuing advanced life support as he was taken to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh.

Hall was pronounced dead at 4:03 p.m. Tuesday, the release said.

Hall had been an inmate at SCI Fayette since Sept. 11. He was serving a sentence of five to 11 years from Dauphin County for possession of a prohibited firearm.

Pennsylvania State Police will be investigating the death.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office, which will determine the official cause of death, said Monday none has been found yet.
