Connellsville hosted a remembrance ceremony Thursday evening at Veterans Plaza to honor those who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. As part of the ceremony, two lights were illuminated in the sky from 7 p.m. to midnight to represent the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers in New York City. A total of 2,977 people were killed in the attacks 24 years ago in New York, at Shanksville in Somerset County and at the Pentagon.
