A Connellsville man is accused of giving a woman a concussion during an assault Thursday morning.

Jhonclif Mathias, 24, is accused of striking Megan Prinkey several times after an argument over a phone charger, according to court documents.

The doctor on duty at Highlands Hospital, which reported the assault complaint, told police he would be diagnosing Prinkey with a closed head injury involving the brain. Prinkey said she lost consciousness during the attack, the complaint said.

Additionally, police noted several other marks, including visible injury to the left inner biceps, facial redness, and a contusion on the back of Prinkey’s head where she said Mathias struck her.

Mathias is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment.

Judge Ronald Haggerty denied Matthias bail on the grounds of continued criminal activity, not having a fixed address and presenting a flight risk. Mathias had warrants out for his arrest in multiple counties, according to the criminal complaint.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 22.
