Brownsville man accused of robbing pizza delivery driver at gunpoint
A Brownsville man is accused of robbing a pizza delivery man at gunpoint after calling in an order.
Emir Calloway, 22, phoned Pizza Hut to deliver an order to a home on the 300 block of Pearl Street on the morning of Feb. 22, according to his criminal complaint.
Pizza Hut driver Clint Sabatula arrived to find an abandoned building, where Calloway approached him as he walked back to his car, he told police.
Calloway confirmed he was the one who asked for a pizza before pointing a pistol at Sabatula’s hip and demanding all his money, the complaint said.
Sabatula told Calloway he only had $15 on him, according to court paperwork, to which Calloway responded “Is $15 worth your life?”
Police determined Calloway was registered with Textnow under the number used to make the order, the complaint said. After further investigation, police said, they found Calloway had changed to a different number the day after the robbery.
Calloway is charged with robbery, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, possession of an instrument of crime and simple assault.
