Highmark Wholecare hosted its first free farmers market of the year Monday in Monessen. In collaboration with the Westmoreland Food Bank, 250 boxes of fresh produce were given out to community members. The event was part of Highmark Wholecare’s Farm-to-Family program, which addresses food insecurity in Western and Central Pennsylvania. In 2026, 37 free farmers markets will be held with a goal of distributing 225,000 pounds of free, fresh produce to 10,000 families through the Farm-to-Family program.
