Connellsville man accused of theft

1 min read

A Connellsville man is accused of stealing a woman’s debit card and using it to spend upwards of $8,000.

Billy K. Cable, 39, was charged on Thursday with identity theft, theft by unlawful taking, financial exploitation of an older adult or care-dependent person, receiving stolen property and access device fraud.

Police alleged that between March 3-19, he used the card to withdraw money at ATMs and to make purchases. A Connellsville police officer who looked at a surveillance photo from one of the ATMs recognized Cable, according to court paperwork.

The alleged victim, an 82-year-old woman, told police $8,415 was taken from her bank account. She also told police she did not give Cable permission to access the account.

Cable was arraigned and lodged in Fayette County jail after failing to post a $40,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is May 7.
