One person was killed Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash that temporarily closed the northbound lanes of Interstate 79 in Greene County.

Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Kalee Barnhart said the crash involved a hatch back and Chevrolet Tahoe near mile marker 9 in Whiteley Township. The call came in shortly after noon, according to state police in Waynesburg.

The Greene County coroner’s office identified the victim Wednesday as Texas resident Robbi Bennett, 26. Bennett was pronounced dead at 12:48 p.m.

The cause and manner of Bennett’s death are still pending, the coroner’s office said.

Northbound lanes were closed between Kirby/Garard’s Fort and the Masontown/Waynesburg exit. The road was reopened to traffic around 3 p.m.

No further information was available as of Wednesday afternoon.
