Two firefighters injured responding to Monongahela fire

1 min read

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries combating a fire that fully engulfed a house Saturday night in Monongahela.

The Monongahela Fire Department said on Facebook that multiple fire departments were called out shortly before midnight to a fire at 502 Warne Ave. Extension off the Cemetery Hill section of Route 88.

While fighting the fire, two firefighters were injured during a fall, a department representative said Sunday morning. Both firefighters were treated at local hospitals and released with only minor injuries.

Firefighters remained on scene for almost five hours, the department said Sunday morning.

Departments steered traffic away from Route 88 between the City Bridge and the intersection with Country Club Road during the response. The Monongahela Fire Department said numerous vehicles and other equipment were stationed along that section of Route 88, where they also set up a drop tank.

The state police fire marshal is investigating the fire, the Monongahela Fire Department said.

The department said it has no information yet on how to help the affected victims.
