Connellsville woman charged in crash that killed husband
A Connellsville woman is charged with homicide by vehicle in a June crash in Bullskin Township that killed her husband.
Wyola Gemas, 34, told police she had three or four beers several hours before the early morning crash on Englishman Hill Road on June 18.
Her husband, Johnny Gemas, had to be extricated from the vehicle, which had sustained severe front-end damage after hitting a tree in the front yard of a home, according to the criminal complaint.
Johnny Gemas died on July 5. The coroner’s report indicated his death had been caused by blunt force trauma of the head and torso caused by the crash, court documents said.
A toxicology report showed Wyola Gemas had a blood-alcohol level of .103, plus or minus .013, the complaint said. It also stated her blood contained THC, the main psychoactive ingredient in marijuana.
Wyola Gemas is charged with homicide by vehicle, driving with a blood-alcohol level between .08% to .1%, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, and unsafe driving.
She posted an unsecured bond of $50,000. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 25.
