Uniontown residents face charges in alleged robbery

2 min read

Two Uniontown residents are accused of conspiring in an armed robbery at a motel room in Uniontown.

Jazelle Gratzinger, 28, and E’Mjah Eberlinn, 17, are charged with three counts each of conspiracy to commit robbery — including threat of immediate serious injury. They are also charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.

Police responded to the scene at the Heritage Motel on Main Street shortly before 7 p.m. Monday.

The alleged victim, Anthony Edwards, told Uniontown police the two had been in his room before leaving.

As they left, three men walked in, one of whom had a pistol with an extended magazine, according to the complaint.

The man with the gun told Edwards “We’ll kill you,” while the others raided his pockets, taking an iPhone, $300 in cash and Edwards’ room key, the complaint said.

After Edwards notified police the two were walking back to the gas station, an officer talked to both and transported them to the station for questioning, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

Gratzinger told police Eberlinn, who was charged as an adult, had informed her the men were coming to rob Edwards, but she did not know their identities. Before the robbery, Eberlinn said she would send Gratzinger an iMessage when it was the right time to leave the room, according to the complaint.

Eberlinn originally denied knowing the assailants, police said. After learning she could face charges and that police sought a search warrant for her phone, she told them she’d messaged her brother and that boys were coming to pick her up.

She denied knowing they would harm Edwards, and did not provide her brother’s name, court paperwork said.

Gratzinger and Eberlinn had bail set at $75,000. Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for March 5 before Judge Michael Defino.
