Hopwood man arrested on drug charges
A Hopwood man was arrested after police reportedly found 25 pounds of marijuana, $100,000 in cash and other drugs and paraphernalia in a search.
Police had originally interviewed Gage Lowe, 19, in his bedroom in South Union Township while responding to a domestic disturbance around 9 a.m. Thursday, according to his criminal complaint.
An investigation showed probable cause for a search warrant for narcotics, police said. After receiving the warrant around 1 p.m. Thursday, police returned to the home.
Along with the marijuana and cash, they found items including a large vacuum-sealed bag and other containers full of psychedelic mushrooms, pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes, edibles, vaporizer pens, smoking devices and scales with residue, court paperwork said.
Lowe is charged with manufacture, delivery or possession with intent; corrupt organizations, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a small amount of marijuana for personal use and possession of a controlled substance.
District Judge Michael Defino denied bond. The court docket listed the reason as the large quantity of drugs and money Lowe allegedly had, as well as mental health issues.
Lowe’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 11.
