Firefighters from multiple companies were at the scene of a fire in Springfield Township.

A mobile home in Springfield Township was destroyed as a result of a Sunday morning fire.

Rob Orndorff, Springfield Township assistant fire chief, said the call came in shortly before 6 a.m. for the mobile home at 617 Kooser Road.

“It was a fully involved fire,” Orndorff said. “There were two occupants, a male and a female, both were able to get out uninjured. There were no injuries to the occupants, no injuries to the firemen. The trailer was a total loss.”

Orndorff said the cause of the fire is under investigation, but he said it seems like it originated in the living room of the mobile home.

Orndorff added that the fire was knocked down relatively quickly, but firefighters were on the scene for a little less than two hours.

“There just was a lot of cleanup, salvage and overhaul,” he said.

Fire companies at the scene included Springfield Township, Ohiopyle-Stewart, Saltlick, Connellsville Township and Normalville. Mutual Aid Emergency Medical Services also responded.

The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
