Thomas Ravenscraft, a nurse at WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital, was honored for his work.

Thomas Ravenscraft, LPN of WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital’s Emergency Department was recently honored with The DAISY Award For Extraordinary Nurses.

The nomination for Ravescraft recognizes “the extraordinary compassion, kindness, and humanity” he showed to a patient who came to the emergency room in November 2025. Written by the child of that patient, the nomination said he made certain the woman was never overlooked and was treated with dignity. He made a promise to visit the woman the next day, but she passed away.

The nomination went on to say that Ravenscraft still came to the woman’s room to see her family, bringing them comfort.

Chief Nursing Officer Meredith Aumer said Ravenscraft “exemplifies the very heart of nursing.”

“His compassion, presence, and unwavering commitment to treating every patient with dignity, especially during life’s most difficult moments, reflect the highest standards of our profession,” she said.

The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation accepts nominations from patients, families or coworkers who want to recognize a nurse. For more information, visit daisyfoundation.org.
