White Oak man charged in Star Lake stabbing

By Jon Andreassi 2 min read

Hanover Township police charged a man this week for allegedly stabbing two people following a concert at The Pavilion at Star Lake.

Frank Bonacci, 43, of White Oak, faces felony charges of aggravated assault, and misdemeanors of reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and tampering with evidence.

According to the criminal complaint, the stabbing occurred at about 12:45 a.m. Aug. 3 in the Star Lake parking lot. Luke Bryan had performed for a sold out crowd that night.

Charging documents state that Steven Palermo and Daniel Myers had offered to help Bonacci look for his girlfriend’s lost cellphone, but that a fight broke out. The complaint did not say what prompted the fight.

Court records do not provide ages and addresses for Palermo and Myers.

According to the complaint, Bonacci stabbed Palermo in the abdomen with a pocket knife. Police said that Palermo had severe bleeding, and was flown by helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Myers had a cut to the back of his neck, and was taken by ambulance to UPMC Presbyterian.

Bonacci allegedly dropped the knife in a portable toilet following the incident.

Police arrested Bonacci Wednesday, and he was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka. Bond information was not available in online court records.

The stabbing happened just a few days before a widely publicized assault at Star Lake following a Jason Aldean concert.

A viral video showed a man attacking a woman on the ground in the parking lot at the concert on Aug. 9. When three other women tried to help her, the video shows the man punching one of them multiple times, knocking her to the ground.

In a second incident at that concert, an Ohio man was hit in the back of the head with a full or partially full beer can.

Michael Mollenkopf said he “blacked out for a couple seconds” and was taken to a West Virginia hospital for treatment. Several days after the concert, Mollenkopf said he woke up with a stutter and bad headaches and had to seek additional medical treatment. He was diagnosed as having multiple concussions.

There have been no charges filed in either case.
