Charleroi man accused of possessing AI-generated child porn

1 min read

Charleroi police charged a man this week after an investigation turned up AI-generated images of nude juveniles on his computer.

Edward Charles Reid Jr., 61, of Charleroi, faces felony charges of possession of child sexual abuse material, intercepting communications, disclosing intercepted communications and misdemeanors of harassment and unlawful dissemination of an intimate image.

According to the criminal complaint, the investigation into Reid began in August after a woman reported that Reid recorded her without her consent and posted pictures on the internet.

Police found he had also recorded a second woman, according to court documents.

Investigators served a search warrant at Reid’s home in the 100 block of Meadow Avenue in September. Reid allegedly confessed to recording the women.

Police seized Reid’s electronic devices, and found images of the initial two women and two others, according to the complaint.

Charging documents state that police also found AI-generated images of juveniles that were of a “sexual nature.”

Reid was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Eric Porter, who sent him to the Washington County jail on $100,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Feb. 5.
