Ceremonies in Fayette and Greene counties commemorated the 250th anniversary last week of the first public readings of the Declaration of Independence. Reading sites included the steps of the Fayette County Courthouse in Uniontown and Veterans Park in Waynesburg. Community members took on segments of the founding document of more than 1,300 words, written by Thomas Jefferson.
