Police continued searching Monday for a Greene County man they consider a threat to the public and law enforcement officers after he repeatedly evaded arrest Friday.

David Garber, 42, of Dilliner, was sought by police as part of a countywide warrant sweep Friday, according to the criminal complaint. Garber had two active felony warrants, including for earlier fleeing and eluding charges filed against him in September.

Officers spotted Garber Friday morning outside a convenience store in Dilliner, where he ignored multiple commands to get off his motorcycle, according to the complaint.

At the intersection with Route 88, Garber ignored a stop sign before driving off on the wrong side of the road at a high speed down Holbert stretch toward Bobtown Road, the complaint said.

After another ignored stop sign and a turn onto Bobtown Road, court documents stated, Garber appeared to experience mechanical problems with his motorcycle, for which he compensated by spraying pepper spray at three officers pursuing him in their vehicles.

From Dilliner Hill Road, officers wrote, they pursued Garber on foot through an open field, where they found his motorcycle crashed on a downed tree.

The search broadened to include a K-9 unit, tactical team and drone surveillance, the complaint said. Officers recovered a firearm flashlight attachment and three cellphones.

Garber was most recently spotted near 255 Power Plant Road shortly before noon Friday, where a trail camera showed him rifling through storage units and walking toward a camper and hunting blind, court paperwork said. At the time, police said, Garber was wearing blue jeans and boots and carrying a black shirt.

The camper’s owner reported finding the camper and hunting blind both open, with the camper’s refrigerator and cabinets also having been ransacked, the complaint said.

Officers found boot tracks on the property leading to an open path, where they eventually lost the track, according to the complaint.

Garber is charged with aggravated assault, fleeing and eluding, flight to avoid apprehension, burglary, criminal trespass, resisting arrest, simple assault, reckless endangerment and more than 25 traffic-related summary offenses.
