Westmoreland Co. man accused of sexting with West Beth pre-teen girl

A Westmoreland County man is accused by state police of sending sexually explicit photos to a pre-teen girl living in West Bethlehem Township earlier this year and having her send a nude photo of herself.

Logan Garrett Rowles, 18, of Scottdale, was arrested Thursday on felony charges alleging that he communicated with the 12-year-old girl using a social media app on their electronic devices to send and receive the sexual images, according to court documents.

The girl’s grandmother became suspicious of the situation and looked through her tablet, where she found numerous sexual photographs being sent and received, police said.

The conversations on the social media platform Snapchat began in mid-January and continued through early April, with Rowles allegedly sending photos of his genitals in exchange for a nude photo of the girl, police said.

Investigators said they were able to identify Rowles through his account’s user name and by photographs he sent the girl showing his face, according to court documents.

State police searched Rowles’ cellphone and the girl’s tablet and were able to locate the conversations and photographs stored in both electronic devices.

Rowles is facing charges of sexual abuse of a child, computer sex acts, corruption of a minor, unlawful contact with a minor and four counts of disseminating explicit sexual materials of a minor. He was arraigned Thursday afternoon by District Judge Joshua Kanalis and sent to the Washington County jail on $5,000 cash bond.

Rowles’ defense attorney Samir Sarna could not be reached for comment Friday.
