Former SCI-Fayette inmate charged with rape
An inmate formerly held at the state prison in Luzerne Township has been accused of raping another inmate.
Court paperwork, filed Monday, alleged William Junior Savage, 49, of Somerset, assaulted the alleged victim in September 2025 at the State Correctional Institution at Fayette. State police said after the man was assaulted, he sought medical attention at the prison.
When police spoke to him, the alleged victim told them he was nearing the time when he could be paroled and wanted to stay out of trouble, according to court documents. He said Savage told him he knew he would not fight because of that.
When police interviewed Savage, he told police the sex was consensual.
Savage is charged with rape and sexual assault. He is currently incarcerated at the State Correctional Institution at Laurel Highlands in Somerset.
