A Uniontown man was arrested after being accused of smashing out the window of a car and setting it on fire by throwing an explosive device inside.

Witnesses reported Samuel Sethman, 49, walking up to the car around 2:40 a.m. Monday in the 100 block of Easy Street before breaking out windows, tossing an item in the car and walking away as it caught fire.

According to court paperwork, Sethman denied knowledge of the incident, but told police, “I would just make a Molotov cocktail. That sounds like a warning.”

A witness who knew Sethman told police he set the fire because he was in love with someone who lived at the house on Easy Street.

Sethman admitted to spray-painting graffiti on the roadway near his home including their names, a heart and the words “Round Diamond,” according to the complaint.

Sethman is charged with reckless burning or exploding, risking catastrophe, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.

He was lodged in the Fayette County jail after he was unable to post $100,000 bond.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 8.
