Connellsville teen charged with attempted homicide

A Connellsville teenager is facing criminal charges after he was accused of shooting at a man through a window Sunday night.

Noah Dove, 17, is charged with attempted homicide, attempted aggravated assault, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, receiving stolen property, carrying firearms without a license, possession of a firearm by a minor and reckless endangerment.

Police said shortly before 11:30 p.m., they responded to a report of a shot fired into the apartment window of Patrick Scheller on West Crawford Avenue in Connellsville.

Scheller had yelled at a group of people outside his window for being loud, after which Dove fired a shot before running off into a nearby park, the complaint said.

Scheller told police he had been standing at the window when the bullet was fired and felt it “go past him.”

Court documents said police found a silver shell casing for a .40-caliber pistol round near where Dove stood, as well as a bullet hole in the glass and lower frame of Scheller’s window.

Police found Dove at his home. Under questioning, he told officers he thought it looked like Scheller had a rifle stock under his arm, and fired in self-defense, the complaint said.

While searching Dove’s residence, officers found a gun under the floorboards and loose ammunition, according to charging documents.

District Judge Ronald Haggerty denied Dove bail for posing a danger to others.

Dove’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 28.
