Fayette County

Connellsville

10 a.m. Monday: The parade starts on the west side (First through Fifth streets), goes over the bridge to Brimstone Corner, left onto north Pittsburgh Street, and ends at the War Memorial at Route 119.

Dunbar

10 a.m. Monday: Dunbar hosts its annual Memorial Day parade. Lineup begins at 9:45 a.m.

Fairchance

2:30 p.m. Saturday: Parade proceeds from West Church Street to North Main Street and onto Sheldon Avenue ending at the Fairchance Community Park. Lineup begins at 1:30 p.m. at Dean C. Whitmarsh Funeral Home. Memorial service with the Veterans of Foreign Wars band and speakers will be held afterward at the Fairchance Community Park.

Fayette City

10 a.m. Monday: Parade lineup starts at 9:15 a.m. at the First Christian Church parking lot on Water Street with overflow on Water Street. Immediately after the parade, there will be a ceremony at the Fayette City Honor Roll. Afterward, Fayette City American Legion Post 484 will have music, vendors, food trucks and an afternoon of fellowship.

Masontown

10 a.m. Monday: Parade starts with a new parade route starting at German-Masontown Park, proceeding along Main Street and Church Street and ending at Masontown Cemetery.

Uniontown

10 a.m. Monday: Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home and Sylvan Heights Cemetery will host the annual Memorial Day Patriotic Remembrance at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext. A patriotic concert by the VFW Post 8543 Band will begin at 9:30 a.m. In case of rain the remembrance will be held in the funeral home chapel.

10:30 a.m. Monday: Mt. St. Macrina Cemetery will hold a ceremony at 500 W. Main St. Commemoration includes a Byzantine Catholic panachida prayer service with petitions for deceased and living military personnel. The Amvets 103 Honor Guard will participate with a procession, military salute, and Taps. Metropolitan Archbishop William C. Skurla will serve as main celebrant with the Rev. Jerome Botsko, chaplain to the Sisters of St. Basil.

Greene County

Sunday, May 24

James R. Maxon American Legion Post 992

11 a.m.: Mt. Morris, Kiger Cemetery

11:20 a.m.: Mt. Morris, Claughton Chapel Cemetery, 1552 Big Shannon Run Road

Garards Fort Cemetery, Garards Fort

11 a.m.: Garards Fort Cemetery Service with guest speaker Todd Moore, followed by a salute to the deceased and placement of the wreath at the monument by the honor guard and firing squad. Music will be performed by the Mapletown Band.

Greensboro VFW Post 6303, Greensboro

1 p.m.: Greensboro VFW Honor Roll with guest speaker Paul Walker and music by Post 400 American Legion Band followed by a salute to the deceased and placement of the wreath at the monument by the honor guard and firing squad. Light lunch will follow.

Brooks-Crago American Legion Post 816, Rices Landing

2 p.m.: Rices Landing Memorial Day Parade will begin at post home with Jefferson-Morgan High School Band, Boy and Girl Scouts of Rices Landing, and the Rices Landing Volunteer Fire Department. The parade will proceed to the honor roll between Hewitt Cemetery and Hewitt Presbyterian Church, followed by a salute to the deceased and placement of the wreath by the honor guard and firing squad. Following will be another program at the Crucible/St. Mary’s Cemetery Honor Roll.

Monday, May 25

James R. Maxon American Legion Post 992, Mt. Morris

10 a.m.: Services at Mt. Morris United Methodist Church

11 a.m.: Mt. Morris Memorial Day Parade from Mt. Morris United Methodist Church to the creek with a salute to the deceased.

Noon: Ceremony at Cedar Grove Cemetery with guest speaker Greene County Commissioner Jared Edgreen, followed by placement of the wreath in honor of our deceased by the honor guard and firing squad. A veterans lunch will be held at the Legion social hall immediately following.

Filer-Sadlek Post 954, Jefferson

10:30 a.m.: Services at Jefferson Cemetery with a salute to the deceased and placement of the wreath at the honor roll by the honor guard and firing squad.

11 a.m.: Services at Mather Honor Roll (post office) with guest speaker Pastor Wendell Bates followed by a salute to the deceased and placement of the wreath at the honor roll. Music will be performed by the Jefferson Morgan Band – SAL members.

11:30 a.m.: Services at the veterans section of the Greene County Memorial Park with a salute to the deceased and placement of the wreath at the base of the American flag by the Honor Guard and Firing Squad. A light lunch will be held located at the bottom of the Jefferson American Legion immediately following.

Waynesburg

Greene County Veterans Memorial Park, Waynesburg

11 a.m.: Services at the Greene County Veterans Memorial Park on Rolling Meadows Road with guest speaker Zane Mitchell, followed by a salute to the deceased and placement of the wreath at the honor roll by the honor guard and firing squad.

Jefferson Borough

11:30 a.m.: Jefferson Borough Memorial Day Parade starting at Jefferson-Morgan High School and ending at Jefferson VFD.

Carmichaels American Legion Post 400

Noon: Services at Laurel Point Cemetery. Frank Ricco and American Legion Post Band will perform the national anthem followed by the reading of Gen. Logan’s Order and the placement of the wreath. A light lunch will be held at the Carmichaels American Legion immediately following.
