Fayette man accused of aggravated assault
An East Millsboro man is charged with aggravated assault after being accused of beating a woman and restraining her for several hours.
Shon Gill, 38, allegedly started a verbal argument with Amanda Shemansky at a residence on the 400 block of Third Street in Luzerne Township after they returned home from the Steelers game Sunday, court documents state.
Shemansky told a Pennsylvania State Police trooper investigating the incident Monday that Gill had punched, kicked and dragged her multiple times.
After Shemansky attempted to leave, Gill placed her in handcuffs for several hours, the complaint said.
During the altercation, Gill restricted Shemansky’s breathing by placing his hands on her neck and putting a towel over her nose and mouth, according to court documents.
A trooper who interviewed Shemansky at the emergency room at WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital reported contusions on her face, arms, legs and back, and swelling on her left elbow, which also had a laceration.
Emergency room staff said Shemansky needed to be transferred to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., for internal bleeding, the complaint said.
Gill is charged with aggravated assault, strangulation, unlawful restraint and simple assault.
Judge Michael Defino denied Gill bail at his arraignment Monday for posing a threat to himself and others.
Gill is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 16.
