NY man charged with theft, deceptive business practices
A New York man is accused of taking more than $13,000 in payment from a Fayette County couple without delivering the farm equipment they purchased.
Charges of deceptive business practices and theft by deception were filed Friday against Scott Breveleri in Judge Daniel Shimshock’s court.
Breveleri, 29, of Champlain, N.Y., had been hauling equipment to Christopher and Linda Diamond’s home in Nicholson Township in June 2025 when he told them they could order additional items through his company, according to the criminal complaint.
After exchanging text messages throughout the rest of the month to buy more farm equipment for pigs, they sent Breveleri’s girlfriend, Kydie Woolsey, more than $13,000 through various payment apps, charging documents stated.
The Diamonds reported the theft to Pennsylvania State Police in October 2025. That day, Woolsey told police Breveleri had emptied their bank accounts and fled her home state of Iowa.
As of Friday, Breveleri had paid the Diamonds back $3,285, leaving them still out $10,295, the complaint said.
