Uniontown man held for court on DUI homicide charges
A Uniontown driver accused of fleeing the scene of a fatal crash in Redstone Township while driving drunk in August was held for court on all charges Friday.
Mark Dimatteo, 66, appeared for his preliminary hearing before Judge Jason Cox, District Attorney Mike Aubele said in a Facebook post.
Redstone Township police said Dimatteo was driving southbound on South Church Road on Aug. 26 when he struck Ronald Hostelter, who had been loading a truck after working with a crew paving a driveway.
Hostetler, 62, of Confluence, was transported to WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Dimatteo was denied bail at his arraignment and is being held at the Fayette County Jail.
He is charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, accidents involving death or injury while unlicensed, and driving without a valid license. Matteo’s license had been suspended in connection with an earlier driving while intoxicated charge, according to the criminal complaint.
His formal arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 19.
