A Fayette County man is accused of driving to a man’s home in Springfield Township and stabbing him in the chest after an altercation.

Michael Hart, 58, of Normalville, was charged Wednesday with aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime with intent, simple assault and loitering.

About 3:41 a.m. Wednesday, Pennsylvania State Police troopers responded to the Arlene Drive home of Ronald Lilley, who told them he had been woken up by the sound of Hart pulling into the driveway.

When Lilley opened the door, he encountered Hart, which led to a brief altercation, the complaint said.

Hart then stabbed Lilley in the abdomen with a multi-tool knife before fleeing the scene in a truck, according to the complaint. Lilley was transported to Allegheny Health Network — Forbes Hospital.

Troopers took Hart into custody without incident Wednesday after finding his vehicle on Clinton Road in Normalville, the complaint said.

Troopers took Hart to the state police barracks in Uniontown, where he subsequently admitted to stabbing Lilley, according to his affidavit of probable cause.

Judge Michael Defino denied Hart bail Wednesday for allegedly posing a threat to himself and others. Hart was lodged in the Fayette County jail.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 9 before Judge Ronald Haggerty.
