Fayette County tourism grants available for businesses
Applications for the 2027 Fayette County Tourism Grant Program became available Aug. 24.
Since the program’s inception, more than $10.4 million has been awarded to Fayette County businesses.
“With a key focus on marketing, the Fayette County Tourism Grants afford a business the opportunity to enhance and advance its marketing reach to visitors,” said Ann Nemanic, executive director of GO Laurel Highlands, the county’s official destination marketing organization. “Only visitor-facing businesses can apply, and the process is open to for-profit and not-for-profit organizations and businesses.”
To be considered, applications must be submitted by 4 p.m. Oct. 2. Letters of approval/denial to all applicants will be sent by the grant administrator by Nov. 30. In early January, a grant award ceremony will be held to distribute the funds.
The tourism grant program is funded by 40% of revenues generated by the Fayette County lodging tax, a 3% tax that became effective in 2008 and has since increased to 5%. Awards are granted annually on the basis of merit by the Fayette County Tourism Grant Review Committee and administered by the Fayette County commissioners and GO Laurel Highlands, the county’s official destination marketing organization. Since its inception, the program has awarded 738 grants totaling more than $10.4 million, including nearly $1.2 million last year.
