Sandrie Helena Vail, 86, of Smock, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025.
She was born July 15, 1939, in Smithfield, a daughter of the late Charles S. and Margaret Jane O’Connor Black.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were brother, Charles R. Black; and sisters-in-law, Joella Black, Patty Black and Patti Black.
Surviving are her husband, Charles Thomas Vail of Smock; son, Warren C. Vail of Smock; daughter, Peggy J. Vail of Smock; loving dog, Lady Bug; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Daniel Black, Gene Black and Robert Black; sisters-in-law, Susan Elek and Flo Ann Hyde; and numerous nieces and nephews.
During her lifetime, she worked for Gallatin National Bank and Fayette Bank. She worked as a teller, in the loan department, prevention / loss, and head bookkeeper. She completed courses for Commercial Law, Loss Prevention, Loan/Discount, and Selling Bank Services at the American Institute of Banking.
She served her community participating in Menallen Schools PTO, Cub Scout leader, Uniontown Band Booster fundraiser chair, and treasurer for Scout Troops 690 and 1690. She enjoyed spending time with family and her beloved animals.
SS. Cyril and Methodius Church in Fairchance has been her church home since birth.
The family will receive friends and familyfrom 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 15, in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, where visitation continues Saturday, August 16, from 9 until 10 a.m., when a Blessing Service will begin.
