Dolores Onesko,

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Dolores “Dewey” Onesko, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the age of 94, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Penncraft.
Dewey was born on April 2, 1931, in Uniontown, PA, a daughter of the late Lillian Mae Hutzel Gadd and William E. Gadd.
Dewey was a graduate of German Township High School, class of 1950. She was also a Graduate of Maison Beaty School, Uniontown, Class of 1954. Dewey was a proud veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War (the forgotten war as she always said). She served as a Medical Secretary at Valley Forge Army Hospital, Philadelphia, attaining the rank of Private First Class.
Dewey’s professional career was marked by serving others by working at Brownsville General Hospital as a staff secretary from 1978 until 1997. Dewey was instrumental in the day to day operation of the family owned, Penncraft Market. She was a former member of Saint Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Brownsville, PA.
In 1954, she married the love of her life and childhood friend, George Robert Onesko. Together, they raised a loving family of eight children, all of whom were by her side during her final hours. Left to cherish her memories are George Robert Onesko and partner Yolonda DeFino of Penncraft, Susan Crossland and her husband, Rick of Oldsmar, Fla., Charles Onesko and his wife, Gina of Hiller, Maria Onesko and John Dale of Grindstone, Nadine Jones and her husband, Ron of Grindstone, James Onesko and his wife, Michelle of Tampa, FL, Michael Onesko and his husband, Chris Balas of Penncraft, with whom she resided, Stephen Onesko and his wife, Sandy of Greensburg, PA. She was also adored by her 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, goddaughter, Amy Fry, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a beloved sister to Brenda Carol Barnhart, and her husband, George, William E., Gadd, and wife, Connie, Deborah L. Kula, and her husband, Frank, and Rhenee Kapr, and her husband, Frank.
Dewey was preceded in death by her husband and childhood sweetheart of 44 years, George Robert Onesko (May 2, 1997), her sisters Betty McFadden (May 6, 2011), Shirley L. Davis (January 28, 2025), and her daughter-in-law Kimberly K. Onesko (July 10, 2023), her brothers-in-law Jack McFadden (November 7, 2011), Clarence Jack Davis (December 7, 2020), and her beloved fur babies, Kira and Mandy.
Dewey also loved her Pittsburgh Steelers. You could find her every game day, dressed head to toe in her Steeler attire.
Although she is no longer with us, her kindness, infectious laughter, and fierce love for family and friends will live on forever in the countless lives she touched. Her memories and legacy will continue to beautifully shape all of those fortunate enough to have known and loved her, and we will always carry her in our hearts.
Her family would also like to thank her wonderful caregivers for so many years, Lauren Linza and Teresa Armel, for the love and comfort they provided her in her final years. They will always be considered our family. We would also like to thank Amedisys Hospice, especially Vicky Wesolowski, for their compassionate care for the past two years.

The family cordially invites family and friends to the, Tarravecchia-Haky Home for Funerals 515 N. Main St., Masontown, PA on Friday, October 10 from 2 to 8 p.m.. A vigil service will be held Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 11 at the Saint Peters Lutheran Church, 121 Walnut Hill Rd., Uniontown, PA with Pastor Jim Engel who also provided comforting words and prayer in Mom’s final days.
Please meet at the church if you plan to attend the graveside services. Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA. Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by the AMVETS of Uniontown.
