Joseph P. Semans, 92, of Uniontown, passed on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
Born January 20, 1933, in Uniontown, son of the late Steve and Rose Sweda Semans.
Beloved husband of the late Eleanor A. Lukac Semans.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two infant sisters.
He is survived by his children: Joe (Patty), Jim (Donna) and Tom (JoAnn) Semans; his grandchildren: Brian (Ashley), Chris (Mandy), Katie, Aaron Fitzsimmons, Ryan (Jessica) Fitzsimmons, Jen (John) Hines, Megan (Ethan) Dutton and Alli (Danny) Stent; his nine great-grandchildren; his brothers, Steve Semans and Michael (Babe) Semans; sister, Margaret Greggs; and several nieces and nephews.
Joe was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army, as well as a member of the VFW.
He spent most of his career with Westinghouse Bettis Atomic Laboratories, retiring as a Senior Scientist. Joe was also a active member of St. Mary (Nativity) Church, where he and Eleanor enjoyed singing in the choir. In their retirement years they enjoyed roller skating and making ceramics.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all his caregivers; OSPTA Home Health & Hospice and Mount Macrina Manor. A special thank you to Darla, Brandon and Heather for the loving care they provided.
Visitation at STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, 603 N. Gallatin Avenue Ext., Uniontown, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 12. Prayers of Transfer will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday, October 13, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary (Nativity) Church, 61 N. Mt. Vernon Avenue, Uniontown. Burial to follow at Mt. St. Macrina Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial donation in Joe’s memory to Mount Macrina Manor.
