Joseph P. Semans, 92, of Uniontown, passed Tuesday, October 7, 2025. He was born January 20, 1933, in Uniontown, a son of the late Steve and Rose Sweda Semans.
Joseph was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor A. Lukac Semans.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two infant sisters.
He is survived by his children, Joe (Patty), Jim (Donna), and Tom (JoAnn) Semans; his grandchildren, Brian (Ashley), Chris (Mandy), Katie, Aaron Fitzsimmons, Ryan (Jessica) Fitzsimmons, Jen (John) Hines, Megan (Ethan) Dutton and Alli (Danny) Stent; his nine great- grandchildren; his brothers, Steve Semans and Michael (Babe) Semans; sister, Margaret Gregg; and several nieces and nephews.
Joe was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army, as well as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He spent most of his career with Westinghouse Bettis Atomic Laboratories, retiring as a senior scientist.
Joe was also an active member of St. Mary (Nativity) Church, where he and Eleanor enjoyed singing in the choir. In their retirement years they enjoyed roller skating and making ceramics.
The family would like to extend its sincere gratitude to all of his caregivers; OSPTA Home Health & Hospice and Mount Macrina Manor. A special thank you to Darla, Brandon, Heather and Sharon for the loving care they provided.
Visitation at STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, 603 N. Gallatin Avenue Ext., Uniontown, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, October 12. Prayers of Transfer will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday, October 13, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary (Nativity) Church, 61 N. Mt. Vernon Avenue, Uniontown. Burial to follow at Mt. St. Macrina Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations, in Joe’s memory, to Mount Macrina Manor, 520 W. Main Street, Uniontown, PA 15401.
