Stephen Anton Peters

Stephen Anton Peters, formerly of Uniontown, and St. Petersburg, Fla., passed away peacefully in his home Thursday, October 2, 2025.
Stephen was born November 13, 1941, in Masontown, a son of the late Dr. Edwin and Ann Louise Peters.
Stephen attended All Saints High School in Pennsylvania, graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1963 and later West Virginia University for his graduate degree.
Stephen proudly served as a captain in the U.S. Army in Germany and in the U.S. at Ft. Campbell, Ky.
Following his military service, Stephen spent 45 years as an investment broker and branch manager with Parker/ Hunter, Inc. of Pittsburgh, where he later served as a member of the company’s board of directors and was involved in the sale of the firm to Janney, Montgomery, Scott of Philadelphia. Stephen retired from Janney, Montgomery, Scott as a senior vice president.
Stephen was heavily involved in his community serving as the chairman of several community organizations, with his most recent position serving as a trustee of the Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg Foundation. At the time of his passing, Stephen was a Knight Grand Cross, which is the highest rank for a Knight in the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem.
Stephen is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Rita Peters; his children, Elizabeth (Betsy) Peters, and Edwin Peters (Marie); grandson, Corbett Peters; and nephew, Gerhard Peters.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, David Peters; and his daughter, Holly Peters.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 13, in St. Mary Our Lady of Grace Church. A reception will follow at the Saint Petersburg Yacht Club – Downtown.
