Barbara Clark Torrence, 84, of Uniontown, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025, at WVU Uniontown Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was born September 20, 1941, in Uniontown, PA, a daughter of the late Harold “Dick” and Madelyn Reposkey Clark. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Barbara was a 1959 graduate of St. John High School. She worked at Cohen Furniture of Uniontown before she married her sweetheart, Wilford Torrence, on August 10, 1963. After starting a family, she dedicated herself to raising their three daughters, becoming so much more than just a homemaker. She was chauffeur, accountant, housekeeper, chef, baker, and above all the best friend to her daughters.
In her early years she enjoyed roller skating, crocheting, and painting ceramics. In her later years she enjoyed deciphering the word puzzles in the newspaper, playing Word Whomp, and spending time with her grandson Matthew.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 51 since 1948 and a past member of North Union Township Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She fiercely loved her family and will forever be missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved brother and his wife, David and Janice Clark.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 62 years, Wilford; daughters, Christine Show; Kimberly Bloom and husband Dave; Traci Torrence and husband James South, all of Uniontown; granddaughters, Megan Torrence and fiance Jimmy Furajter, Madelyn Torrence and significant other Jeremy McDowell; grandson Matthew South; and great-grandson Jimmy Furajter.
At her request, memorial services and interment at Sylvan Heights Cemetery were private. Donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to Fayette Friends of Animals, PO Box 1282, Uniontown, PA 15401 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
