Dewvaul Washington Tracy, Jr., 85, of Smithfield, PA passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Mt. Marcina Manor in Uniontown, PA after an extended illness.
He was born on August 3, 1940, in York Run, PA son of the late Dewvaul W. Sr. and Susan Corinne Hart Tracy, the eldest of eight children.
He graduated from Point Marion High School (PA) in 1959. At an early age, he gave his life to Christ and was actively involved in Sunday School, the choir and BTU.
After high school, Dewvaul attended Virginia Union University in Richmond, VA and earned a Bachelor of Arts in history/political science. He met his wife, Sandra, at VUU; and during his time there, he enlisted into the US Air Force and fought in the Vietnam War.
He later continued his education to earn a Master’s equivalent. He studied religion at Virginia Union University School of Theology, Moody Bible School, Reform Presbyterian School of Theology and the National Baptist School of Christian Education. Dewvaul worked in education for approximately 35 years spending most of his career teaching for Intermediate Unit I in California, PA.
Dewvaul was called to ministry later in life and served as Pastor at the Second Baptist Church in Mt., Pleasant, PA and the Beulah Baptist Church, Smithfield, PA. He served his community as the Executive Administrator at the Headquarters and Christian Center, Dean of the YWBA Congress of Christian Education, board member of the Albert Gallatin Area School District, member of the Fayette County Behavioral Health Boar, and Life Member of the NAACP.
In addition to his parents, Dewvaul was preceded in death by his daughter, Vonda Kaye Tracy, and siblings: Shirley Fields Robinson and Raymond Tracy.
Dewvaul leaves to celebrate his life his wife, Sandra E. Tracy; son, Dewvaul Tracy III (Cherice) of Chesterfield, Va.; grandchildren: Mikala Tracy of Bremerton, Wash. and Dewvaul Tracy IV of Chesterfield, Va.; siblings: Elizabeth Phifer (Solomon Sr. – decreased), N. Y.; Rudolph Tracy (Marilyn), Ill.; Timothy Tracy (Antoinette), Smithfield; Joyce Wade (Donald – decreased), Smithfield; Donald Tracy (Marguerite), North Carolina; Charlotte Tracy, Uniontown; Archie West Sr. (Sheri), Fairchance; James West Sr. (Cheryl), Shoaf; special nieces: Halla Settles (Zachary), Uniontown; Marissa Reid (Antwon Sr.), North Carolina; brother-in-law: Thomas H. Epps Jr. (Ruth), Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu offlowers, the family request contributions be made in memory of Dewvaul W. Tracy Jr. to Beulah Baptist Church or the Youghiogheny Western Baptist Association.

Friends will be received at the YWBA for visitation on Wednesday, October 29th from 5 to 8 p.m., and 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 30th and the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Mt. Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, PA.
