Donald L. Ashton, 84, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 20, 2025, in Huntsville, Ala.
Born March 18, 1941, in Uniontown, Don lived a life marked by adventure, devotion, and deep love for his family. A supportive father, loving husband, and devoted grandfather, Don’s legacy lives on through his raising of his four children, eight grandchildren, and four great- grandchildren.
His dedication to family remained steadfast, even through the many moves and challenges that came with his distinguished career as a federal agent. That role led his family across eight states and through 17 moves, shaping a life of resilience, adaptability, and rich experience.
In his early years, Don was a passionate athlete, skiing, scuba diving, racing motocross, and excelling in football and track. His athletic prowess earned him a place in the Bethany College Hall of Fame, a testament to his enduring drive and talent.
Later in life, Don discovered joy in the desert southwest, embracing hobbies such as riding ATVs, cooking, picking on the banjo and golfing. His retirement was nothing short of adventurous, traveling extensively across the country with his beloved wife in their RV before settling into a seasonal rhythm between Arizona winters and summers in either Alabama or Pennsylvania.
Don will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, research in family ancestry, his unwavering love for his family, and the many stories and memories he leaves behind. His impact was felt deeply by all who knew him, and his presence will be missed beyond measure.
A celebration of Don’s life will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to take a moment to share a memory, go for a ride in the desert sun, or enjoy a home-cooked meal in his honor.
