Douglas G. Sahady

Clarksville
Douglas G. Sahady, 54, of Clarksville, went home to be with his Lord Friday, September 5, 2025. He was born in Waynesburg, a son of the late George Sahady and Norma Lynn “Riki” Hess Sahady Dow.
Doug was a graduate of Jefferson Morgan High School and California University of Pennsylvania.
He was an instructor at West Virginia University in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology for 22 years. For 10 years, intermittently, he was a field archaeologist and principal investigator for Mid Atlantic Archaeological Research Associates and other archaeological firms.
He spent much time doing what he loved: wandering through the woods, unearthing artifacts from times past. He had a profound appreciation for history and loved reading and studying the Bible.
At an archaeology field school in 1992, Doug met his lifelong love, Trish. He told her in their early dating days that “there weren’t enough years left to love her.”
Doug was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and follower of Jesus Christ.
He attended Calvary Chapel of Brownsville (previously of Fredericktown) with his family. He dedicated 25 years to creating the weekly church bulletin, served on the church council, taught Sunday school, and held a men’s Bible study in his home for over 15 years.
Surviving are his loving wife of 31 years, Patricia Lynn Hockenberry Sahady; children, Jacob Sahady and wife Julia, Kate Sahady Makowski and husband Parker; grandchildren, Daniel Alexander, Elora Lynn, and Ezekiel Douglas (expected in October).
Doug’s family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, September 13, in Calvary Chapel of Brownsville, 112 Thornton Road, Brownsville, PA 15417. A celebration of life memorial service will follow at 4 p.m., with Pastor John Thomas officiating.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Calvary Chapel of Brownsville, 112 Thornton Road, Brownsville, PA 15417 (ccbrownsville.org).
GOLDSBORO-FABRY FUNERAL HOME, INC., Fairchance, has been entrusted with Doug’s professional funeral arrangements.
