Ruby Pearl Baker, 98, of Brownsville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 13th, 2025 at WVU Uniontown Hospital.
Ruby was born on November 20th, 1926 in Thompson No.1 daughter of the late Edwin Samuel and Emma May Cole Marks.
Ruby was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brownsville and was the Treasurer for numerous years. Ruby was very active in her church and community.
During WWII, Ruby worked in munitions production. She was a volunteer at Brownsville General Hospital until closing and as an LPN for numerous years. Ruby loved playing cards and building puzzles and enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends. Ruby was very active in her community and in lending a hand however needed; she lived life to the fullest every single day. Ruby loved everyone and everyone loved Ruby.
Surviving to cherish Ruby’s memory; her granddaughter, Emily (Cody Knotts) Lapisardi, her great-grandchildren Nicholas Knotts, Nathaniel Knotts, Winston Knotts; her brother and sisters, Stanley Marks, Margaret Sheets and Twila Hall; and her sister-in-law, Kathy Marks; also, numerous special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ruby is preceded in death by her beloved husband William S. Baker, her two sons and daughter William K. Baker, Harry “Butch” Baker, Jacqueline Lapisardi and son-in-law Frederick Lapisardi. Her siblings are Grace Cseko, Harry Marks, Doris Daugherty Swaney, Betty Angelo, Lena VanVoorhis, Rita Marks, Freda Marks, Joyce Smith, and Larry Marks.
Friends and family will be received from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17th, 2025 at NOVAK-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME, 515 Front Street, Brownsville, PA 15417. Funeral Service will begin at 1 p.m. inside the funeral home on Wednesday. Interment will be held privately at Westland Cemetery, Coal Center.
