Connellsville
Delores A. “Dorie” Ruck, 97, of Connellsville, died Tuesday, September 16, 2025, in Monarch Meadows Personal Care Home. She was born March 11, 1928, in Vanderbilt, a daughter of the late Aarange and Anna Ritchey Rohm.
Dorie lived a long and fulfilling life, but was most proud of her grandchildren and great- grandchildren; she loved showing off their pictures every chance she had.
She was a huge Steelers fan having season tickets since the ’70s. She was proud to tell of her trips to several Super Bowls and being an eyewitness to the “Immaculate Reception”.
She loved traveling with her husband throughout the country from coast to coast, but especially enjoyed their trip through Europe. She continued her trips with friends after losing her husband, such as her trip to Alaska, several cruises and car trips throughout the south.
She had been involved in many groups and organizations including as a charter member of the Connellsville Garden Club, Wakefield Culture Club, Order of Eastern Star, Connellsville Hospital Auxiliary, Red Hat Society, Wednesday Night Bowling League, Tuesday Golf League, several card clubs and she was active at the Senior Center.
She was a lifetime member of the East Liberty Presbyterian Church in Vanderbilt and she served the church as a member of the Session, deacon, junior choir director and choir member.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula Takoch and husband Robert of Hopwood; two grandchildren: Seth Takoch and wife Tara, whom she loved like a daughter, and their children, Lindon and Rooney, all of Springfield, Va.; and Joel Takoch and his sons, Turner and Decker of Pittsburgh.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul “Puner” Ruck in November 2004; her brothers, Curtis, Ralph and “Sandy” Rohm; and sisters, Helen Addis and Eleanor Ruth Fritz.
At the request of Dorie, services and interment are private.
The family wishes to express a special thank you for her care to the staff of Monarch Meadows and OSPTA Hospice.
Donations, in her name, can be made to the East Liberty Presbyterian Church, Vanderbilt.
