Forrest “Dale” Lolley Jr., 56, of Washington, passed away after a battle with cancer Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

Born November 20, 1968, he was a son of Eulalia “Eukie” Lolley and the late Forrest Dale Lolley Sr.

He was the beloved husband of 30 years to Amy D. Lolley; loving father of Noah (Lindsi) Lolley, Tanner Lolley and Madelyn Lolley; dear brother of Sonia (Brian) Cangelo; uncle of Jon Tomis (Kimmy) Swogger, Nathan (Kady) Swogger and Nicolas (Casey) Swogger.

A true sportsman and lifelong advocate for athletics and community, Dale’s passion for sports, writing, and mentoring young athletes left an enduring mark on all who knew him.

For over 23 years, Dale was a cornerstone of Washington Youth Baseball, serving in many roles including coach, council member, and umpire. His dedication led to the creation of the Founders League for the Pony League World Series, a contribution that helped shape opportunities for countless young players.

Professionally, Dale combined his love for sports and storytelling. He worked for many years as the Outdoors Editor and Steelers beat writer at the Observer-Reporter before joining DK Pittsburgh Sports as a writer. His career later brought him directly to the Pittsburgh Steelers organization, where he co-hosted the popular daily show “The Drive” and wrote stories for Steelers.com.

An accomplished athlete himself, Dale was a member of the 1984 North Clarion High School Basketball team that won a Pennsylvania State Championship-a proud achievement he carried with him throughout his life.

Dale will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments, but also for his generosity, enthusiasm, and the countless lives he touched through sports. His legacy lives on in the players he coached, the readers who followed his writing, and the community that cherished his presence.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, September 20, from 9 a.m. until the service at 12 p.m. in Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, 724-260-5546.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Dale’s name, to Washington Youth Baseball, P.O. Box 851, Washington, PA 15301.
