Masontown

Steve E. Andrasy, 92, of Masontown, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025, in Laurel Ridge Center, Uniontown. He was born August 19, 1933, a son of the late Nicholas and Margaret Andrasy.

Steve is preceded in death by his wife, Irene Kalfut Andrasy. He was the last of his immediate family.

Surviving are four children: Nicholas Andrasy (Wendy) of Hanson, Mass., Susan Engelhardt of Masontown, Stephanie Show of Masontown and Gregory Andrasy of Stewartstown; 10 grandchildren: Jami Kimmel (Jason), Jeremy Lazuka (Bonnie), Jack Steven Engelhardt, Nicholas Andrasy (Karrie), Manon Englehardt and Matthew, James, Michael, Ashley and Jakob Andrasy.

Steve was a graduate of South Union High School. After graduation he served his country in the United States Navy in the early 1950’s and then joined the Philadelphia Fire Department for about 10 years.

Steve and his family returned to Fayette County and began a mining career at the former US Steel Robena and Dilworth mines. He was a proud member of the UMWA and Dilworth Local 1980, where he served on various Union related committees.

He was a devout Roman Catholic and parishioner of St. Francis Assisi Roman Catholic Church in Masontown and was also a member of the Masontown Knights of Columbus, and the Masontown V.F.W.

Family and friends are welcomed from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday October 1, in the Paul M. Lesako Funeral Home, 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, PA 15320. 724-966-5100, Paul M. Lesako Owner / Funeral Director, Aaron S. Walker, Funeral Director. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. followed by a mass of the resurrection at 11 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Masontown. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded.
