Carole L. Salosky

Bobtown

Carole L. Salosky, 79, a lifelong resident of her cherished community of Bobtown, Pa., passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at her home.

Born in Bobtown on August 4, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Anne Zick Mentus.

A proud graduate of the Mapletown High School class of 1964, she married her beloved husband, William “Bill” Salosky in 1968, and together they built a life centered on faith, family and love. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this May.

She is also survived by her three children, Jennifer Buchtan and husband Andy of Greensboro, Amy Smith of South Carolina, and William Salosky, Jr. and wife Becky of Carmichaels; four grandchildren, Andrew Buchtan, Jr and wife Molly, Rachael Buchtan, Lauren Smith and Natalie Smith; two sisters, Catherine Cain (husband Gary, deceased) of Mount Morris, and Marge Gruseck and husband Bud of Glenshaw; several nieces and nephews, including two special nephews, Paul and David Cain.

Carole, lovingly known as “Nan”, was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren- they were her whole world, and Andy and Becky held a particularly special place in her heart, as she loved them as her own children.

A devoted member of St. Hubert’s R.C. Church in Point Marion, Carole was a woman of deep and abiding faith, which she shared and instilled in her family. She prayed the Rosary daily and lived her life guided by her devotion. She passed away on Holy Thursday, fittingly while preparing as she did every year to celebrate Easter with her family. Carole was the heart and soul of her family, creating countless cherished memories, through her love, warmth and unwavering dedication. She made every holiday, birthday and special occasion meaningful with her delicious cooking and baking.

She found joy in caring for others, whether through meals shared with family, friends and neighbors, tending to the garden, canning her harvests, or enjoying puzzles a during the winter months.

To describe Carole as a wife, mother and grandmother is to say she gave all she was, so we could be everything we are. She will be treasured forever by all who know and loved her.

Private viewing for the family will be in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.. Friends are invited to join with her family then for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Hubert’s R.C. Church, Sadler Street, Point Marion. Interment follows in the Greene County Memorial Cemetery, Jefferson, Pa.
