Paula Jean Layfield Shaffer, 81, of Fairchance, passed away with loving family by her side Friday, April 10, 2026.
She was born November 24, 1944 in Fairmont, W.Va. to Paul N. and Celia Layfield.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband, Jess S. Shaffer.
Left to cherish her name are her five children, Cheryl (Dean) Hines, Sheila (Andy) Angel, Richard (Gretchen) Belan, Jeffrey (Christy) Belan, and Mindi (Gregg) Jerome; grandchildren, Ryan, Emily, Morgann, Rebecca, Robbie, Kyle, Connor, Dominic and Mia; great- grandchildren, Shannon, Jacob, Kylie, Bella, Lucian, Olivia, Delmas, Elijah and Celia; and lifelong friend, Sandra Olsavicky.
The family will receive friends and family in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, and from 9 until the time of a funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 16, with Pastor Jason Lamer officiating.
Interment will follow in Pleasant View I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Smithfield.
